Dr. G.C. Nath is, in my experience, an unprofessional and unethical doctor. My family has been consulting him for 5-6 years, and during this time, I’ve observed his primary focus is prescribing expensive medicines and tests. Despite being a general medicine specialist, he attempts to treat complex conditions, ranging from heart issues to diabetes, without proper expertise or referrals.
My father, who was under his care, was admitted to GNRC Six Mile after experiencing breathing issue and we were told he suffered a mild heart attack and developing blockages. Trusting Dr. Nath was our biggest mistake. He treated my father for pneumonia, but we later discovered the lung infection was caused by heart failure, which led to water retention in the body. Despite our repeated requests for an angiography, he evaded the matter for 10 days, and during that time, we were charged a hefty bill of approximately ₹3.5 lakhs. His explanation for the blockage was vague, claiming that blood thinners would address it.
After being discharged, my father’s condition worsened, and he suffered another heart attack within a week. This time, we insisted on an angiography at GNRC Dispur, which revealed 90% blockages in multiple arteries. It is beyond comprehension how Dr. Nath diagnosed the percentage of blockage without the proper test. His mismanagement and negligence were evident as he continued treating the symptoms (like pneumonia) instead of identifying and addressing the root cause.
Furthermore, when it was clear that my father needed specialized cardiac care, Dr. Nath suggested we consult Dr. Neel Bordoloi at Excelcare, instead of transferring him to GNRC Dispur. This recommendation felt questionable, given the situation. To add, a cousin of mine also had a similar experience of misdiagnosis under Dr. Nath.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against consulting Dr. G.C. Nath. Based on my experience, his approach to patient care is riddled with misdiagnoses, unnecessary treatments, and a lack of transparency.

He is amongst the good Doctors that I have came across in Assam. He cares for patients and doesn't hesitate to personally keep in touch with them. He focuses on getting patient cured rather than anything else.
Best thing is his evidence based approach in treating people. I saw somebody's post that said he writes lot of tests, I think it's better for doctors to write multiple tests and treat on the basis of the test reports.

had pain in back side of neck. He even did not touched the pain area. Gave me multiple tests of Rs. 3500/-. I did and showed the report. He not even discussed the actual problem with me, given me MRI test again from his known lab. When I asked what happened, replied nothing such. He totally forgot, for what I went to him with all test reports. If you visit him, go with enough money. He is so careless about his patients and more interested to make money from his testing lebs.
