Disappointing Hospitality Despite Stunning Ambience
We stayed at Smoky Hotel after our trek to the Living Root Bridge in Nongriat. The only major advantage of this property is its prime location. After the exhausting trek, it’s convenient to rest here, and the ambience is undeniably top-notch, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and waterfalls.
However, the hospitality was a massive letdown. Despite arriving well after the check-in time, the staff made us wait unnecessarily, showing a lack of consideration for tired guests. The reception staff was unwelcoming, avoiding eye contact, and their unresponsive attitude made us feel as if we were being granted charity rather than paying for a service.
Another significant drawback is the food. With the hotel located far from other dining options, we had no choice but to settle for the in-house food, which turned out to be overpriced and lacking in taste. It offered no value for money, adding to the overall disappointment of the stay.
On the positive side, the rooms are well-maintained and have a fresh, new vibe, which added a touch of comfort to our stay. However, the poor service and subpar food overshadowed this aspect.
If the management improves their hospitality and customer service, this could easily become a favorite destination for trekkers. For now, it’s a mix of stunning views and frustrating service.

The resort is located little off the main area though easily navigable using maps. The resort is located very close to the Double decker/Blue lagoon trek. The view is great from this property. Their attic style rooms are little overpriced but are different and beautiful. They should focus more on the upkeep of their rooms. Overall, a good stay.

Very good resort at the best location. Rooms were well maintained. Suite rooms are quite big and comfortable. All basic things are available in the room. They have in house restaurant which get's closed at 9. Breakfast options were limited but food was fresh,hygenic. We were staying on new year's eve so they made special arrangements for live music followed by DJ,fireworks,sky lantern activity. It was heartwarming gesture. Resort location is near to starting point of Double Decker Bridge Trek. UPI is accepted.

Great value for money! The resort is just near the trek point of the double decker. We loved the location as it's scenic for your morning breakfast.
Please book this place for your stay if you plan to do trekking.
Great food and the staff is really helpful.

Enjoyed the stay. Located at a secluded area. Food was good so was the service. But the room price was more than it should be. No wifi, no network, so you will get pretty bored if you are alone. There is no bar.
Pro tip: download movies to watch offline later, and carry your drink if you want to.
